WHY “POCKET ABC - LETTERS & SOUNDS”?
--------------------------------------------------
The first step in teaching a child to read is to teach that child the BASICS of the alphabet - specifically the ABILITY TO LINK SOUNDS TO LETTERS AND NAMING THE LETTERS OF THE ALPHABET.

Created in conjunction with teaching professionals, “Pocket abc – Letter & Sounds” consists of a set of beautifully animated flash cards; each is fully interactive with a vocal response to every touch, be it a letter, illustration or word. Most touch responses lead to amusing interactive animations to capture your child’s interest, sustain their motivation and reinforce their learning in imaginative and exciting ways;

VISUALLY & MENTALLY STIMULATING
• Beautiful interactive flash cards.
• Fun animations - touch the “x-ray fish” and see an aquarium unfold before your eyes!

CHALLENGE AND AMUSE YOUR CHILD
• Test your child – “where is the letter ‘c’”?
• “Which animal begins with….”.

ENGAGING
• What will happen when you touch the monkey?
• See the Jellyfish wobble…

UNCOMPLICATED – CHILDS PLAY TO OPERATE
• Large touch screen graphics & clickable areas designed specifically for younger children.

Latest reviews of Pocket abc - Letters & Sounds app for iPhone and iPad

Not for ipad
My toddler loves this app. Pocket abc however is not for ipad like it says. Download "abc fist step" if using on ipad and want to upgrade from abc lite. I wasted money to find this out as pocket abc has poor resolution on ipad. Other than that great little app for the price.
Doesnt work
Tired the lite version, loved it. Bought the full version and after a few taps it kicks me out/shuts down. Wouldnt have given a star but had to give one to write a review.
Bug problem
This game has nice graphics but does not work well, it freezes a lot and I have to turn off and on my phone so it can work again constantly.
Needs editing
The moving animals are so cool and its good that the letter sounds are said. However, using the wrong letter sounds and wrong examples for the letter sounds used would confuse a children who are just starting to learn how to read. This app is nice but needs some corrections. I regret that I bought this. Whoever made this obviously did not consult a reading specialist or even a teacher. The hard /g/ was used for the letter sound but used the soft /g/ as an example - giraffe. Better use G gorilla. For letter /i/ same thing. Could have used I iguana. Octopus or ostrich would be better example for the letter O. The /r/ got bad rolling sound in the UK version. It sounded like /w/. Unicorn starts with the long /u/ sound so its not good example for the letter sound used. Umbrella fish would match the short vowel sound that was used for the letter U. Vultures scream, they do not make a sound of a man yawning. The /ks/ sound should be used for the letter X and the /z/ for Z. I hope they would correct the mistakes and update the app.
Game stinks
No sound. Cant even play it.
